Our model

One school. Many pathways.

CEF's community-driven model connects quality education to practical skills, innovation and sustainable development, guided by five principles.

Guiding principles

Five principles behind everything we do

Community-Led

Listen to communities and involve them in designing and sustaining solutions.

Practical Learning

Connect classroom education to critical thinking, leadership, creativity and real-world problem-solving.

Technology and AI

Promote responsible use of emerging technologies to improve learning and address local challenges.

Local Solutions

Start with available resources, learn through practice, and scale approaches that work.

Sustainable Livelihoods

Connect education to higher learning, vocational skills, employment and entrepreneurship.

Quality education first, then the areas that make learning lead somewhere

TVET

Growing step by step

A phased approach to every learning center

Not every school needs to offer every service from day one. A CEF school starts with a strong core and adds services as funding, local demand, staffing and evidence of impact allow.

Phase 1

Core school

Foundational and secondary education, trained teachers, a safe learning space and community ownership.

Phase 2

Skills and well-being

Digital literacy and STEM clubs, girls' mentorship, and health and well-being education.

Phase 3

Pathways

Selected TVET courses, entrepreneurship, and school farm or climate projects.

Phase 4

Community hub

The centre opens to the wider community through workshops, youth innovation and partnerships.

Built to last

A model that can sustain itself

CEF already combines grant funding with earned revenue: $47,000 raised in grants and $17,000 generated in earned revenue. We combine grants, earned income, community contributions, partnerships and individual giving so that no single source decides whether a school survives.

Income-generating activities never come before access: low-income families, and especially girls, come first.
